How My Blanket Went On The Patch
As my ex-girlfriend was grabbing some of her things while moving out (over a year ago now), for some unknown ‘psycho posessed-by-the-devil’ reason, my little princess of the dark, decided it would be a good idea to leave me a casual reminder of how she was cutting out my heart, by cutting into the underside of my favourite Tommy Hilfiger blanket.
I put the blanket away for a year, as it contained not only the metaphorical cut, but a few ‘stains’, not to mention the smell of her. Too many memories, too hard to handle at the time.
Now that I am better equipped mentally to deal with it, I took my dear blankey out of storage, examined the damage, and proceeded to sew a patch on it. I chose denim to match the exterior (top side). It covers and reinforces the cut area to keep it from further tearing. I then brought the blanket to a laundromat and had it washed (they have the super-size washers).
My blankey is back, clean, returned to my bed where it belongs and the patch actually looks kind of cool. Gives it something unique. As for the ex-girlfriend… I have left a ‘Sharpey’ near my bedside in case she wants to come by and sign the patch so that we never forget why it’s there. After all it is half hers!
I am glad I can finally make light of these situations.
